We’re here to make understanding the NDIS easy
If you have a disability you may be able to receive Government support through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
There are around 4.3 million Australians who have a disability. Within the next five years the NDIS will provide an estimated 500,000 Australians who have permanent and significant disability with funding for supports and services. For many people, it will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. Therefore it is very important to have a good understanding of NDIS and how it works. If you require our assistance please do not hesitate to contact our office at 03-8753 2222 or send us an email at support@carehub247.com.au
You need to go through the eligibility checklist and answer some simple questions to see if you may be able to apply for the NDIS. These questions are only for guidance, the final decision is up to the NDIA.
Once you meet the eligibility criteria you can apply to become a participant by completing an Access Request Form. NDIA will review your application and decide if you meet the NDIS eligibility.
Once you become eligible for NDIS you will receive an “Access Decision” letter, and be asked to attend an initial planning meeting.
In this meeting you will discuss your goals and what type of support and funding you will require to achieve those goals. This will be expalined in your NDIS plan.
Your plan is a written agreement worked out with you explaining support, and NDIS services you will receive funding for. Everyone’s plan is different due to different conditions and it is very important to prepare and write down your goals before your initial planning meeting.
You can start using your plan once it get approved. It is up to you to decide which services and support you believe you need to help and achieve your goals, who will provide them and how they are delivered. Your Early Childhood Partner, Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or Support Coordinator will help you to start your NDIS plan.
