Your NDIS journey is all about maximizing the benefits of your plan. This includes developing the skills to manage your plan efficiently, budget effectively, and make informed decisions that enhance your independence and quality of life.
Improved Life Choices is a key NDIS Capacity Building sub-category designed to help participants effectively manage their NDIS plan, budget, and decision-making for a more independent and fulfilling life.
This funding provides support to ensure participants can maximize their available resources, reduce the stress of planning, budgeting, and administration, and make informed choices that align with their goals. With the right guidance, you can focus on what truly matters—accessing the best support services to help you achieve your aspirations.
Improved Life Choices NDIS support can be delivered in two different ways:
Planning and Plan Management
The first way to utilize Improved Life Choices is through Plan Management. This option supports you in the overall management of your plan and the various tasks, skills and challenges associated with it:
Financial Intermediary
The alternative way to utilize NDIS Improved Life Choices is through Financial Intermediary. This option involves having a Plan Manager take care of all the administration and plan management tasks on your behalf.
If you want to access plan management support or work with a financial intermediary (such as a Plan Manager), simply request Improved Life Choices during your NDIS planning meeting or annual plan review.
Speak with your Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or Support Coordinator about including this funding in your plan. They can guide you on how Improved Life Choices can help you better manage your budget, reduce administrative stress, and make the most of your NDIS support.
If self-managing your NDIS plan is something you are interested in doing, then speak to your LAC or NDIA planner about the next steps to setting that up. It is also good to talk to someone you know who has experience in self-managing their NDIS plan or connecting with a self-management peer support group for extra guidance.
Plan managers help NDIS participants monitor their funds, stay on top of budgets, manage invoices and provide financial reporting to the NDIA. They are available to answer questions and guide participants in anything related to the financial aspect of the NDIS.
